Red
This 7 week course is loosely centered around the 7 Chakra's. We will use colours and themes relevant to the different areas to begin to help them to find inner balance. The Base Chakra is mainly about grounding, safety and building a foundation, so it is the perfect place to start. The colour connected to this Chakra is Red.
Each week we will suggest activities that can be done at home. It is up to you to find what works for you, you don't need to use them all. The idea is to practice so that mindfulness becomes a habit that is part of your life and will be there to support you when you really need it. All these activities can be done by the whole family! Here are some things to try this week.
- 30 second meditation
- Think of your colour for 30 seconds. Set your goal (i.e. once a day, twice per week etc). Ask someone to set a timer for you each time. Try and meet your weekly meditation goal.
- Drink mindfully
- Whenever you remember take a drink of water and really pay attention to how it feels, really concentrate on it. In this way you can meditate and bring your brain to the present moment without adding anything to your day. You are learning to include mindful activities in your life and giving your brain a breather!
- Add to your 'Safe List'
- List places, things or people that make you feel safe and secure. This helps your mind to focus on feeling safe so you have a more solid base to address things that may worry you. It is also something to visualise in worrying situation. Use words or drawings. Discuss safety with other members of your family.
- Read and repeat your affirmation.
- These statements give us a positive focus for the day. The mind doesn't perceive the difference between 'real' and 'thoughts' so giving it something helpful to think about is very beneficial.
- Practice your Opening Breath.
- Try your emotional points if you notice an uncomfortable feeling.
- Don't try and ignore the feeling!
- Use your sense of smell!
- We forget to really be present in the hear and now, the simple act of noticing smells as you walk around brings you into the present.
- Work through the online meditations and exercises.
- Eat red food
- Remember food being something that is natural (i.e. that grows). Notice which food is red and consider its taste and where it comes from.
Every week we will open with this 'welcoming breath'. This is a great exercise to do when you first wake up or if you need to clear the air.
Each week we will do this rainbow meditation. It is great for balance, focus and clearing out any blocks or negativity to learning. It is great to help you calm down, make decisions and be open to learning.
Each week will add to the crystal bead band. Here is some information about the crystal you have received this week
Please refer to your child's journal to identify which Bach Flower Remedy they have chosen for the week. Read more about Bach Flower Remedies here.
The room spray may not have all of the aromatherapy oils in it, it contains a blend of some of them. All of these oils are good to support this week.
The weekly brain gym exercises are a great way to help activate the brain and provide some relief from stress. These videos are the same exercises you will have done in the class. Use them as a reminder and do them everyday.
For more information on Brain Gym please read here. This week the exercise is Brain Focus. This is good for grounding, calming and 'switching on' the brain
These exercises are designed to help de-stress the brain form emotions and remove potential blocks. See the card for more details
The meditation below can be done without music, however this is the music we used in the class (available on You Tube). You can play this in the background or just during the week when doing other things. The background Binaural vibration can help to resonate within the body, correcting internal frequencies subconsciously. Read more about Binaural frequencies here.
